Fire Protection

Since October 2015, Standard Prof has been developing a fire-resistant sealant in white, gray, brown, and other colors based on a non-graphite material, in response to numerous customer requests.

In February 2016, the Standard Prof Factory launched a colored intumescent fire-resistant tape under the Flint® brand. With an aesthetically pleasing appearance, rich colors, and a smooth matte surface, Flint® tape offers an affordable price and excellent thermal expansion properties.

Previously, colored intumescent fire-resistant tapes manufactured in Germany were introduced to the Russian market. The cost of imported tape is, on average, three times higher than that of Russian-made tape.

The black color of the fire-resistant tape comes from the presence of up to 35% oxidized intumescent graphite, which causes the tape to expand three-dimensionally when exposed to high temperatures during a fire. At room temperature, the surface of black fire-stop tape has a noticeable grainy texture. When the graphite-based tape expands, its volumetric growth and the formation of carbon fibers, resulting in a dense fibrous structure, can be observed. Flint® black fire-stop tape manufactured by Standard Prof Factory has a volumetric expansion coefficient (bulging coefficient) of over 1500%.

Black fire-stop tape is used in the production of fire-stop sleeves as a thermally expanding insert. The fire-stop sleeve itself consists of a white, gray, or red steel housing with a secure closing latch and a heat-sealing insert located inside the housing.

Flint® colored fire-stop tape is produced without a graphite base, which requires the development of a special combination of components to ensure a high expansion rate without using inexpensive graphite. Colored fire-stop tape is a more innovative material and costs less than black graphite tape. On January 15, 2016, in the research laboratory of the Standard Prof Factory, technologists and laboratory technicians successfully conducted experimental annealing of Flint® fire-resistant tape under fire-simulating conditions. Out of more than 20 samples with different raw material compositions, those meeting all fire safety requirements for residential and industrial buildings were selected. The volumetric thermal expansion coefficient of the colored Flint® fire-resistant tape exceeds 3000%.

Starting in 2022, Flint® intumescent fire-resistant tape is produced with a yellow adhesive layer. Upon customer request, it can also be manufactured without an adhesive layer.

You can watch the testing of Flint® intumescent tape at Standard Prof Factory VK channel.
